Using Shelving to Organise your University Flat

Using Shelving to Organise your University Flat

It’s the time of year again where all of the students head back to university (or the freshers start to arrive) and here at Rhino we want to help all students get organised and prepared in their new flats. University flats can build up mess extremely quickly, so it is key you’re prepared when moving in. Having the right plan and good storage solutions can help keep your flat tidy for the whole year round.

So grab your hoover and your mop, and let’s dive into our blog post exploring the best organisation tips to keep your flat tidy all semester long.

Plan your organisation

The best thing to do when moving in anywhere new is to have a plan of exactly how you’re going to organise your new flat or home. Choose which bedroom is yours, choose where you want the TV, and choose exactly where all of your décor will be going. Having a plan will make moving in 10x easier and you know exactly how you want everything to look and where everything would be.

Make you have purchased the best cleaning tools or storage solutions to ensure moving in is as easy as possible for you and your flat mates.

Start with a deep clean

By having a clean slate when you’re moving in, it’ll make the rest of your organisation 10x easier. No one wants to live in mess, so make sure to have a deep clean when moving in, and thoroughly clean through the whole house/ flat. Make sure you grab your hoover and mop and begin deep cleaning all of your floors. Give each room a proper dust and make sure to bin any rubbish that isn’t needed.

Purchase some nice smelling candles and sprays to make sure you’re home is smelling amazing and now the true organisation can begin.

Organise your items into piles

When moving into your flat/ house, it may be a good idea to organise each of your items into categories and piles. Move them into piles of which room they will be in, the size of your items (biggest can go away first), and importance of the item. This will make it 10x easier when it comes to putting your items away.

It is best to start on the most important rooms in your house (e.g. the kitchen or your bedroom), to ensure if it takes you longer than a day to organise then you can still cook or use your bed. Your bedroom is a key place to organise as it may be the place you may spend the most time whilst you’re at Uni.

Purchase some great shelving

Here at Rhino we have the perfect budget friendly shelving to help tidy your Uni flat at the best prices. Whether you need to store away your books, files or even a unit for your kitchen or bedroom. Our wire or MDF shelving is the perfect asset to help tidy your flat.

We do suggest purchasing wire shelving for your university flat, as it looks smart and sleek within homes, whilst being amazing at organising all of your items. Moving into a University flat usually means you take all of your life belongings with you, so you may have a lot of items you need to store away. Our wire shelving units hold 200kg of weight per shelf, meaning even your heaviest items can be stored away safely.

Here at Rhino, we want to help all the university students get organised, so our shelving is affordable for all students, as well as offering FREE and fast delivery. Shop the range now and be prepared to start your new adventure away from home.
